Summer fun is in full swing in Kyle, and July is packed with exciting opportunities to celebrate, learn, and connect. Whether you’re looking for family-friendly entertainment, creative activities, or ways to enjoy the outdoors, Kyle has plenty to offer all month long.
Parks and Recreation Events
Kyle’s Independence Day Fireworks Show — July 4
Join the City of Kyle in celebrating the Fourth of July with the Independence Day Celebration Fireworks Show on Saturday, July 4 starting at sundown (approximately 9 p.m.) at Lake Kyle Park, 700 Lehman Rd.
Limited parking (200 spots) and limited ADA parking will be available on-site at Lake Kyle Park, with a designated viewing area on location. Additional parking will be available at Steeplechase Park.
The show will also be able to be seen from many locations throughout Kyle. All residents viewing the fireworks display should exercise caution when selecting their viewing location and avoid parking on curbs, shoulders or medians.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, blankets, etc. to sit on. Personal food and coolers are allowed, but please dispose of items in the trash and recycle bins available throughout our parks. Though pets are allowed we do not recommend bringing them due to the high-volume of noise associated with this event.

Social Squad — July 14
The Social Squad is a welcoming social club for individuals ages 15 and older with disabilities to connect, build friendships, and enjoy engaging recreational activities in a supportive environment. This month, participants will work alongside instructors from Inspired Minds to build their own mini tree house while practicing creativity, teamwork, and hands-on skills.
Dive-In Movie — July 17
Cool off at Dive-In Movie Night on Friday, July 17 for a showing of Pirates of the Caribbean – Curse of the Black Pearl (PG-13) at the James Adkins Pool, 1100 W. Center St., and enjoy movie night outside on the big screen! Families can enjoy swimming, outdoor games, and family fun.

Luau Pool Party — July 31
Join us for the Luau Pool Party, a special event for individuals with disabilities! Enjoy a social pool party, featuring lively music, snacks, and refreshing drinks. Bring your towel and swimsuit, and get ready for a night of fun. This is a great opportunity to connect with others in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Recurring Programs
Water Aerobics (50+) — Tuesdays and Thursdays
Stay active this season with our Active Adult Water Aerobics classes at James Adkins Pool! Designed for adults ages 50 and up, this low-impact, full-body workout helps improve strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular health while being easy on the joints. Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. Pre-registration is required at KyleRec.RecDesk.com.
Tennis Lessons — Saturdays
Youth and adult tennis lessons are available for beginners, intermediate and advanced players on a month-by-month basis between March and October. Registration is required. Lessons are typically done on Saturdays at the Lehman High School tennis courts. Conservation Division Events
Organic Gardening Class — July 18
Join us each month for a free Organic Gardening Class taught by Master Gardener Holly Wilson. This month’s session will focus on landscape design. Registration is encouraged at KyleRec.RecDesk.com. This month’s class takes place Saturday, July 18 from 9 – 10 a.m. at the Kyle Community Garden, 193 Goddard.
Steeplechase Trail Clean-Up — July 23
Looking for a way to give back to nature? Join the Hays County Master Naturalists for a monthly trail clean-up at Steeplechase Park! We meet on the fourth Thursday of every month (Except for November and December) from 8 to 10 a.m. at the parking lot by the basketball courts.
We’ll be working to remove invasive, aggressive plants to help our native species thrive. It’s a great opportunity to learn plant identification and removal techniques you can use in your own yard, all while making a real difference in the community! Please bring your own tools, gloves, boots, and eye protection, as only a small amount of tools will be provided.
Conservation Connections — July 30
Conservation Connections is a free, once-a-month community presentation focused on local ecology, practical ways to help protect our environment, and tips for becoming a better environmental steward in the City of Kyle.
This month, join Kyle’s Water Conservation Coordinator to learn about Kyle’s water system and sources, how the City is preparing for its water future, and ways you can save water and money.
Kyle Public Library Events
This July, Kyle Public Library continues its Summer of Discovery with exciting programs for babies, children, teens, and adults. Participants in the Summer Reading Program still have time to complete their reading logs before the August 7 deadline and earn prizes while exploring everything the library has to offer.
Thursday Performers
ALL Summer Performers are ticketed events. Events are limited capacity with tickets available while supplies last. Tickets will be available for pickup at 9:30 am on the morning of the event. Tickets are limited to five (5) per family / group. You must have an active Kyle Public Library card to pick up your tickets.
Tío Tóto (0-8 years) — July 9
Known for high-energy shows where the audience becomes the band, Tio Toto invites kids and caregivers to sing, dance, and even help create songs live during the performance. Blending family-friendly folk-pop with quirky storytelling and playful surprises, Tio Toto’s shows delight audiences of all ages. His performances often include bilingual moments, encouraging kids to sing in both English and Spanish while celebrating creativity, culture, and curiosity.
Mad Science (5-12 years) — July 23
Sounds like science! Kids get tuned into learning with exciting demonstrations and experiments, including the surprisingly loud dinosaur-in-a-can, the glowing electric pickle, and a kid-created thunderstorm!
Storytimes
All storytimes will be limited to the first 50 people to ensure a safe, quality program.
Baby Time (0-18 months) — Wednesdays
Babies (along with their favorite grownup) will enjoy a shared story, songs, action rhymes, and play time together. Early literacy and child development tips and tricks for parents and caregivers will be included.
Toddler Storytime (18-36 months) — Wednesdays
Toddlers are invited to participate in stories, songs, finger plays, and rhymes. Little imaginations will be captured while building critical early literacy skills. Caregivers are encouraged to participate!
¡Los Cuentos Bilingüe! Bilingual Storytime (0-5 years) — Fridays
Bilingual Storytime is presented in English and Spanish. It is an opportunity for young children to engage through stories, finger plays, music, and activities.
Children’s Programs
Summer Craft (3-12 years) — Mondays and Tuesdays
Discover your creativity in these come-and-go craft programs. Dive into a Summer of Discovery to learn about dinosaurs, the ice age, first people, and royalty. Each week’s craft has a different theme and discovery focus.
Makerspace Lab LEGO Challenge (5-12 years) — July 6 and 20
Let your imagination run wild and explore your engineering skills as you create and build with LEGO blocks provided by the library. Challenges will be provided to test your creativity.

Play and Learn (all ages) — July 11
Do you think you are the best at Uno? Maybe you’re more of a puzzle person. Join us for an hour of playing! Families are invited to explore different types of games and activities.
Tween Time (9-12 years) — July 14
Bring your friend, your cousin, or your neighbor to our newest children’s program! Tweens are invited to the library to try out the Makerspace, explore STEAM challenges, and game together. Each week, a new experience will be provided to our kids inbeTWEEN. Grownups are welcome to stay in the library.
Family Storytime (0-12 years) — July 25
Children and their grownups listen to stories, sing songs, and enjoy shared activities. Storytime is a time for families to have fun together and connect. All ages are welcome.
Final Days of Summer: Wednesday Showcase — July 29
Celebrate the final days of the Summer Reading Program with a fun-filled visit to Kyle Public Library. Explore remaining and brand-new crafts, turn in your reading log to receive your completion prize, and enjoy a special community showcase.
Meet members of the Kyle Police Department and the City’s Public Works team as they share the equipment, tools, and vehicles they use to help keep Kyle safe and running smoothly. Families will have the chance to meet staff, ask questions, and get an up-close look at the important work they do every day.
Final Days of Summer: Thursday Showcase — July 30
Stop by to explore crafts, turn in your reading log for your completion prize, and enjoy a special showcase featuring the Kyle Fire Department. Meet local firefighters and get a close look at the impressive equipment and gear they use to protect the community. It’s a fun and educational opportunity for all ages to learn more about fire safety and the people who serve Kyle every day.
Teen Programs
Teen Makerspace Game Day — July 10
Enjoy an exciting blend of past and present! Bond over shared memories with old-school favorites or team up for engaging newer games. Whether you’re into video games on the Nintendo Switch or prefer a quick round of Exploding Kittens, our game selection is designed to bring teens together in a fun, welcoming atmosphere.
Teen Makerspace Build-a-Dino — July 15
Ready to go full mad scientist? It’s time to invent your own mutant dinosaur! Grab a provided dinosaur toy and remix it. Chop it up, stitch it together, or glue on parts from other toys to create something totally new. Will your creature be adorably weird… or nightmare fuel? Let creativity roar!

Teen Mobile Escape Room — July 16
