Outgoing Mayor Travis Mitchell was acknowledged during the Tuesday, Dec. 2 City Council meeting. Mayor Mitchell served the City of Kyle for nearly a decade. He was first elected to City Council in June 2016, serving as the District 1 Council Member. In November 2017 he was elected Mayor and has since served three consecutive terms as Mayor. Mitchell submitted a formal resignation from office on July 15, 2025, vacating the seat one year before the scheduled end of his third and final term in office.
Another Mayoral election will be held in 2026 as the 2025 election was called per city charter following the early departure of former Mayor Mitchell.
