Parks and Recreation Events
Back-to-School Market Days — August 8
Enjoy those beautiful Texas mornings, stretch your legs, and support local vendors at the August Market Days on Saturday, August 8 from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Mary Kyle Hartson Park, 101 S. Burleson St.
Visitors can check out local vendors, including food, drink, and arts and crafts, a playground for kids, and plenty of space to sit and relax with your friends and neighbors.
There’s even more to enjoy throughout the day, including donation-based hair trims from Capelli’s, a limited backpack giveaway from Alpha One Pest Management, and a free book giveaway courtesy of Unforgotten Friends and Families. All services and giveaways are available while supplies last, so show up early to make sure you are able to take advantage of these generous offers!
Back-to-School Luau for All Abilities Dance — August 28
Get ready to dance the night away at our Back-to-School All Abilities Dance!
Let’s celebrate the start of a new school year with friends, family, and community. Hawaiian attire is encouraged, so break out your favorite floral shirts, leis, and grass skirts for a festive evening filled with music, dancing, and good vibes. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to connect and create lasting memories!
This event is open to all ages and abilities. Parents and guardians are welcome to drop off participants, while those requiring additional support may bring an attendant. Please note that all participants and accompanying adults must register online before the event. We can’t wait to see you there!

Water Aerobics (50+) — August 4, August 6
It’s the last week of Active Adult Water Aerobics classes at James Adkins Pool! Designed for adults ages 50 and up, this low-impact, full-body workout helps improve strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular health while being easy on the joints. Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. Pre-registration is required at KyleRec.RecDesk.com.
Recreation Events
Tennis Lessons — Saturdays
Youth and adult tennis lessons are available for beginners, intermediate and advanced players on a month-by-month basis between March and October. Registration is required. Lessons are typically done on Saturdays at the Lehman High School tennis courts. Adult Kickball League — Fall 2026
Registration is now open for the Fall 2026 Adult Kickball League! Keep moving this fall with kickball, a fun and social way to stay active outdoors. Games are played on Fridays. Teams play an 8-game season plus an end of season playoff. To register and learn more, visit KyleRec.RecDesk.com.
Conservation Division Events
Organic Gardening Class — August 8
Join us each month for a free Organic Gardening Class taught by Master Gardener Holly Wilson. This month’s session will teach you more about how to prevent pests from ruining your garden. Registration is encouraged at KyleRec.RecDesk.com. This month’s class takes place Saturday, August 8 from 9 – 10 a.m. at the Kyle Community Garden, 193 Goddard.
Steeplechase Trail Clean-Up — August 27
Looking for a way to give back to nature? Join the Hays County Master Naturalists for a monthly trail clean-up at Steeplechase Park! We meet on the fourth Thursday of every month (Except for November and December) from 8 to 10 a.m. at the parking lot by the basketball courts.
We’ll be working to remove invasive, aggressive plants to help our native species thrive. It’s a great opportunity to learn plant identification and removal techniques you can use in your own yard, all while making a real difference in the community! Please bring your own tools, gloves, boots, and eye protection, as only a small amount of tools will be provided.
Conservation Connections — August 27
Conservation Connections is a free, once-a-month community presentation focused on local ecology, practical ways to help protect our environment, and tips for becoming a better environmental steward in the City of Kyle.
This month’s topic explores drought adaptations and how local plants and wildlife cope with dry conditions, along with practical steps residents can take to conserve water and build drought resilient landscapes using native plants and smart watering practices.
Kyle Public Library Events
The Summer Reading Program at the Kyle Public Library is coming to a close , and we have a short storytime and program break during August. Be sure to turn in your Summer Reading Program logs by Friday, August 7 to be entered into the grand prize drawings. Fall programming will resume after Labor Day.
Luckily, our Mobile Escape Rooms have been rescheduled to August 6, giving you more time to sign up and reserve your spot!
