When most cities deliver their annual State of the City address, it’s a formal, buttoned-up event that doesn’t leave much room for fun. But in Kyle, we like to do things a little bit differently. That’s why we created City Fest—a one-of-a-kind community celebration that combines the Mayor’s State of the City address with live entertainment, family fun, and plenty of activities for all ages.
This year’s City Fest takes place on Saturday, October 18 from 4 – 8 p.m. at La Verde Park, 3901 Burnham. Enjoy fun for the whole family with live music by SUEDE and Love and Happiness, a kid zone with mini golf and carnival game inflatables, touch-a-truck, food and drink vendors, a chili cook-off with peoples judging (while supplies last), college football on the big screen, pumpkin patch, photo opportunities, and FIREWORKS!
The State of the City address, delivered by Mayor Travis Mitchell, will look back at accomplishments from the past year and highlight how Kyle is preparing for 2026 and beyond. This year’s theme, “The Story of Kyle: Past, Present, Future,” will reflect on the city’s journey while charting the path forward. The address will also celebrate the leaders who have shaped Kyle’s history with a special gathering of all current and former City Council members and Mayors.
City Fest is also a chance to get to know more about what’s happening behind-the-scenes at the City of Kyle. City of Kyle staff from every department will have designated booths where residents are encouraged to visit, ask questions, and learn more about available resources and services. Whether you’ve always wondered what the Development Services team does or want to meet the folks behind Communications, this is your opportunity to connect directly with the city staff who work to make Kyle better every day.
Applications are still being accepted for Chili Cook-Off competitors.
