Library Celebrates a Vibrant Summer of Color

Kyle Public Library has wrapped up a successful Summer of Color! From impressive performers, welcoming city partners, and fun staff-led events, this summer has been one to remember.

Summer is always the busiest season at the library. With school out and long summer days in full swing, families flocked to the library for a mix of engaging programs, exciting performances, and plenty of books for readers of all ages.

Over the course of nine weeks, we welcomed 4,566 attendees over 82 programs. Each event was a chance for kids and families to learn something new and have fun while doing it. Whether it was a magic show, a family game night, or a STEAM lab, there was something for everyone.

One of the standout additions to this year’s summer program was our Friday Showcase series. Every Friday, we featured a different local public service organization that brought out their impressive vehicles and dedicated staff to meet families and share what they do. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the City of Kyle Parks and Recreation Department, Public Works Department, Kyle Police Department, Hays County Health Department and Office of Emergency Services, and the Kyle Fire Department for helping us inspire and educate our visitors all summer long.

And of course, summer wouldn’t be complete without our Summer of Color Reading Challenge! This year, over 800 participants signed up to take on the challenge of reading for 45 days over the summer. Each day they read, they checked off a box on their challenge sheet, working toward completing their colorful reading journey. We loved seeing so many young readers excited to track their progress and celebrate their achievements.

“Thank you to everyone who joined us this summer, whether you came to a program, checked out a book, or simply followed along on social media, we want to say thank you,” said Library Director Leslie Scott. “Your support helps make our library a welcoming, vibrant place to learn, play, and grow together.”
