Learn, Create, and Connect with Free September Programs at the Library

This fall, the Kyle Public Library is rolling out a full slate of programs and activities for all ages, from storytime fun for little ones to creative workshops for teens and engaging events for adults.
A group of children and adults stand in a circle indoors, raising their arms and smiling, participating in a lively group activity near a large black inflatable dome.

The weather is changing, the leaves are falling, and the Kyle Public Library is gearing up for another season of fun and free programs. From storytimes and crafts to educational workshops, there’s something for everyone to enjoy all month long.

Littles

Families will find plenty of options for children, with returning favorites such as Baby Lapsit, Bilingual Storytime, and Preschool and Toddler Storytime. Storytime schedules have shifted since last season, so families are encouraged to check the library’s event calendar for the latest updates.

Children can also discover new activities on Wednesday evenings. Kids ages 5-12 are invited to create their own LEGO masterpiece at Building Hour on September 10, while Kiddo Craft on September 24 will let them make a unique project to take home. For little ones ages 3-6, PJ Storytime on September 17 offers songs, dancing, and wonderful stories just before bedtime.

Teens

Teens have a fresh slate of activities this fall, with “Teen Tuesdays” bringing creative and social opportunities throughout the month. The first Teen Tuesday on September 9 will feature a craft night with perler bead keychains, followed by a button-making program on September 23. The month wraps up with Teen Movie Night on September 30, where teens can watch a movie, enjoy free snacks, and relax in a chill space after school.

Adults

Don’t worry adults, we didn’t forget about you! In addition to returning favorites like Dungeons and Dragons, Community Yoga, and Book Club, new programs are being added for the fall. KPL Puzzlers will meet every 2nd and 4th Wednesday for an afternoon of jigsaw, word, and logic puzzles to solve with others or on your own. Whispers in the Wind Storytelling Night, held every 3rd Wednesday, invites participants to share original stories or retell their favorites. Community Coffee on the 2nd Friday of each month offers a chance to meet new friends or catch up with old ones. This list only includes a few highlights, so make sure to check out our Program page for a full list of events.

For adults aged 60 and older, the Library is hosting A Matter of Balance, an award-winning program sponsored by Area Agency on Aging of the Capital Area, designed to help manage falls and increase activity levels. The eight-week series runs on Fridays from September 12 through October 31, and registration is required. To register, please contact Theresa Brader at 512-268-7411.

There are also several programs designed for families to enjoy together, including Chess and Games every Monday afternoon and a Quilt Turning event on September 20 that showcases the history and craftsmanship behind a collection of vintage quilts.

For a complete schedule of programs, visit the Kyle Public Library’s event calendar and discover opportunities to learn, create, and connect all month long.
