Kyle Youth Can Dive, Run, and Play with Upcoming Parks Programs

From swim team and tee-ball to tennis lessons and adaptive sports, the City of Kyle is giving young residents plenty of ways to stay active and have fun.

With opportunities for athletes of all ages and skill levels, these upcoming programs give families plenty of ways to get involved this season.

RecZone Youth

RecZone Youth offers a space for youth ages 12-18 to connect with their peers while enjoying recreational activities in a positive environment. This four-part program focuses on building healthy youth development through engaging activities like team sports and arts and crafts. Participants will also develop social-emotional learning skills that encourage young people to grow into healthy, caring, and responsible individuals.

Activities include:

  • Disc Golf (March) – Learn the fundamentals of the sport while playing a round with friends. Take home a free disc golf frisbee.
  • Floorball (April) – Try this exciting indoor hockey-style game that keeps everyone moving.
  • Arts & Crafts (August) – Take a break from sports to get creative and unwind with fun art projects.
  • Volleyball (September) – Practice teamwork and build confidence on the court.

Kyle Kudas Swim Team

Swim team registration is now open for youth ages 5 to 17! Swimmers will receive two weekly practices, a swim cap, team swimsuit, team shirt, and the opportunity to compete in the Regional Meet if they choose. Swimmers ages 15-17 automatically advance to the State meet, with entry fees covered by the City of Kyle. Registration closes Friday, April 11, or when the program reaches capacity.

The cost of registration is $175 per swimmer for residents and $210 per swimmer for non-residents.

Youth Wee-Ball and Tee-Ball League (4U & 6U)

Get ready for a season of fun, learning, and teamwork! Our leagues are designed for kids ages 3-6, with two divisions to help them develop their basic skills in a supportive, friendly environment. Registration opens Monday, March 23 so be sure to mark your calendar as spots fill up quickly.

Practices and games take place on Mondays from June 8 through July 27 at Gregg-Clarke Park. Registration costs $60 per player for residents and $65 for non-residents. Register at KyleRec.RecDesk.com.

Tiny Tot Triathlon

Join us for our Tiny Tot Triathlon on Saturday, April 18 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Gregg-Clarke Park. The Tiny Tot Triathlon is a mini-triathlon for kiddos between the ages of 3-8 years old. The Triathlon will feature a route with biking, walking/running, and a cool down in the pool. Each participant will receive a medal and a t-shirt!

Youth Tennis Lessons

Young athletes interested in tennis can take part in a series of Saturday lessons held at Lehman High School Tennis Courts. Participants can register for sessions that include four classes each and are designed to build skills appropriate for each age group.

The Little Rackets class for ages 5-7 introduces children to the fundamentals of tennis through fun activities that build coordination, listening skills, and confidence. Classes are held Saturdays from 9-9:45 a.m.

The Junior Aces class for ages 8-10 helps players develop their all-court game through dynamic drills while introducing basic strategy and sportsmanship. Classes take place Saturdays from 10-11 a.m.

The Middle School Tennis Program for ages 11-14 focuses on refining technique and improving match play through drills and competitive point play. The program helps players develop shot consistency, strategic patterns, and the mental toughness needed for school teams or higher-level competition. Classes are also held Saturdays from 10-11 a.m.

The April session runs April 4-25, with registration open February 1 through April 4. The May session runs May 2-30, with registration open March 1 through May 2. Registration costs $50 for residents and $60 for non-residents for Little Rackets and Junior Aces. The Middle School program costs $60 for residents and $70 for non-residents.

Adaptive Field Day

The City of Kyle Parks and Recreation Department will host a free Adaptive Field Day on Wednesday, April 15 at Lake Kyle Park from 6 – 8 p.m. This event is designed to provide an inclusive and supportive environment for individuals with varying abilities aged 8 and older. Featuring adapted games, creative play stations, sensory-friendly spaces, and plenty of encouragement.
