Kyle Water Utilities has officially received the Superior Public Water System designation from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), a recognition reserved for systems that exceed state and federal drinking water standards. Only about 10% of Texas public water systems earn this designation, making it an exciting milestone for our community.

Kyle earned the designation on March 9, 2026, after a two-year effort to strengthen infrastructure, improve operations, and maintain consistently high water quality. It reflects the professionalism, care, and daily commitment our Water Utilities team brings to serving residents across Kyle.

That work happens every day, through routine monitoring and testing, strong compliance, qualified licensed staff, well-maintained facilities, and a successful backflow prevention program that helps protect our system. It also shows up when residents reach out with concerns.

“When a resident reported a water quality concern on Easter, our team responded that same day, went on site, pulled samples, and flushed the system out of an abundance of caution,” said Mike Murphy, Director of Water Utilities. “That is the level of care and responsiveness our staff brings to this work every day, and this designation reflects that commitment to serving Kyle residents well.”

With this designation, Kyle joins a notable group of Central Texas cities whose public water systems have also been recognized by TCEQ for superior performance, including Round Rock, San Marcos, Seguin, Temple, Belton, Killeen, and Waco. It is a proud milestone for Kyle and a reminder that our community is building for the future with care.

As Kyle continues to grow, we remain focused on delivering the safe, reliable, high-quality water service our residents count on. This designation reflects excellent work behind the scenes and the strong foundation we are building for the future.
