The Kyle Public Library recently celebrated an exciting new chapter with its Renovation Ribbon Cutting on Saturday, March 28, marking not only the completion of major facility updates, but also the grand opening of its brand-new Makerspace.
Designed to spark creativity and curiosity, the Makerspace offers patrons access to a variety of tools and equipment. Whether you’re interested in crafting, designing, or trying out new technology, the space welcomes all skill levels—from beginners looking to learn something new to experienced creators ready to dive into their next project.
“Libraries today are more than just places to store books. They are what we call a ‘third place’— a space where people can gather, learn, and connect. Our goal with this renovation was to create an environment that supports lifelong learning, creativity, and collaboration, while also expanding access to technology and resources for everyone in our community,” said Kyle Public Library Director Leslie Scott.
Available Makerspace equipment includes two sewing machines, a Cricut machine, die-cutting machine, two button makers, a 3D printer, and more to explore.
The Makerspace is available to library card holders ages 12 and older, while younger children can participate during designated youth programs. Users ages 12 to 17 must have a parent or legal guardian sign an agreement form on their behalf before using the space.
