As Kyle continues to grow, so does its need for dependable digital infrastructure. Currently, there are many areas around Kyle where cell service isn’t as strong as it should be, leaving residents frustrated and lacking proper connection.
Recently, Kyle City Council took a significant step towards improving local wireless coverage, approving an agreement with Diamond Towers V LLC to construct new telecommunications towers on three City-owned properties. It’s a move that promises to strengthen cellular service across town—an upgrade with benefits that will touch nearly every resident, business, and emergency responder.
The three approved tower sites are:
- FM 1626 Water Tank Property (5155 S. FM 1626)
- Dacy Lane Water Tank Property (1401 Dacy Rd.)
- Kyle Wastewater Treatment Plant (941 New Bridge Dr.)
These locations were strategically selected. Each was identified through analysis of existing service gaps, where weak signals or dropped calls have become frustratingly familiar to many. With Kyle’s population now surpassing 58,000—and still growing—improving wireless infrastructure has become a pressing need.
Diamond Towers has already secured interest from major carriers such as AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Boost Mobile, setting the stage for meaningful improvements in both coverage and reliability. The anticipated timelines to bring the towers “on-air” are as follows:
- FM 1626 and Dacy Lane sites will be operational by 2026
- Wastewater Treatment Plant site is expected by 2026/2027, depending on regulatory approvals
These projections align with regional carrier investment patterns and are subject to final permitting and zoning processes.
“This project reflects a proactive effort to meet the digital needs of our rapidly growing community,” said Mayor Travis Mitchell. “Reliable wireless service is critical for residents, businesses, and emergency services alike.”
The initiative follows a competitive bid process, with Diamond Towers selected in November 2024 to lease space for wireless infrastructure. A formal marketing agreement was signed in early 2025, allowing the company to attract providers to designated locations.
While these three towers mark an important start, the city is already exploring additional locations to keep pace with future growth. This investment isn’t just about better cell service—it’s about making sure Kyle remains connected, resilient, and ready for what’s next.
