Kyle Fair and More: May Events Across the City

The Kyle Fair headlines a busy month of parks, library, and community events across Kyle.

May is shaping up to be a busy and exciting month in Kyle, with a wide variety of events for all ages and interests. From live music and outdoor movies to educational programs and volunteer opportunities, there are plenty of ways to get involved and stay connected. Be sure to mark your calendar for the Kyle Fair, returning May 15 through 17, and explore everything else happening throughout the month.

Parks and Recreation Events

May Social Squad — May 5

Come check out the Social Squad, a social club for adults (15+) with disabilities. This month we’re celebrating Spring with an evening of themed activities focused on social interaction, creativity, and community connection on Tuesday, May 5 from 6-7:30 p.m. This inclusive program provides opportunities to build friendships in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

Jams on the Green — May 7

Join us for a FREE community concert in the heart of Kyle! As the sun sets, settle in for live music, great food, and a relaxed, high-energy atmosphere. Bring your lawn chairs, grab a bite from local food vendors, and enjoy an evening of live music with Gray Scot at La Verde Park on May 7, from 6-9 p.m. 

May Movie in the Park — May 8

School’s almost out, the days are getting longer, and summer is calling—kick it off with a laid-back night under the stars at Movies in the Park. The May Movie in the Park, Lilo & Stitch (Live Action), will be shown on Friday, May 8, at La Verde Park, starting at sundown, approximately 8:30 p.m. Celebrate the start of summer with this heartwarming adventure about family, friendship, and finding where you belong—perfect for a cozy night with friends and family.

2026 Kyle Fair — May 15 – 17

Get on down to Lake Kyle on May 15 – 17!

We’ve got a party planned that’ll knock the stink off a skunk here in Kyle, Texas! We’ve got ribs, ‘ritas, carnival rides, and a whole mess of things on a stick ready to dig into, plus a live-music lineup that’ll wear out your boots on the dance floor! To make it even better, entry and musical performances are FREE! By the end of the weekend I’d reckon you’ll be plumb worn out from all the hootin’ and hollerin’ at this finer than frog hair festival!

Library Events

Line Dancing — May 2

Ready for an afternoon packed with fun and movement? Adults ages 18 and older are invited to step into some fun line dancing at the library on Saturday, May 2 at 2 p.m.! It’s a fantastic way to boost your balance, coordination, and fitness—plus, it’s the perfect excuse to get out and enjoy the day! This workshop, presented by Aging is Cool, offers a fun and supportive environment for all adults, including those who may need a little extra assistance.

Summer Kickoff — May 26 – 29

Join the Kyle Public Library’s Dig into Reading Challenge! Track 45 days of reading this summer to earn a chance at some exciting prizes.

How to participate:

  • Pick up your reading log at the library between May 26 and June 23.
  • Color in a square for each day you read. All types of reading count (graphic novels, audiobooks, storytime books, video games, etc.)
  • Turn in your completed log by Friday, August 7.

Stop by the library any time during our Summer Kickoff Week to get ready for a season full of discovery. Sign up for the Summer Reading Program, pick up your reading challenge log, check out the grand finale prizes, and browse new books to kick things off.

We’ll also have special craft activities for kids inspired by digging, gems, and fossils during the times below:

  • Tuesday, May 26 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Wednesday, May 27 from 12 – 2 p.m.
  • Thursday, May 28 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Page Turners Book Club — May 28

The Page Turners Book Club invites readers to connect over a shared love of books every 4th Thursday of the month at 6:45 p.m. Each month, members explore a new title and come together for lively discussions, thoughtful insights, and community connection in a welcoming environment.

Join us for our May Book Club discussion as we dive into Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy. This powerful and atmospheric novel explores love, loss, and the fragile relationship between people and the natural world. Come ready to share your thoughts, connect with fellow readers, and discover new perspectives.

Conservation Division Events

The Kyle Parks and Recreation Department’s Conservation Division is staying busy this month. Catch up with them at one of their many May events.

Trail Steward Volunteer Day — May 2

Enjoy a volunteer workday dedicated to keeping our local trails safe, clean, and beautiful. This hands-on event is a great opportunity to give back to the community while enjoying the outdoors.

Volunteers will assist with clearing debris, trimming overgrowth, planting native species, and completing other essential trail maintenance tasks. Whether you can stay for the entire event or just stop by for a portion of the morning, your time and effort will make a meaningful impact.

The event will take place at Waterleaf Park on Saturday, May 2 from 8 to 11 a.m. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable outdoor clothing and closed-toe shoes, and to bring a water bottle and gloves.

Organic Gardening Class — May 9

Join us each month for a free Organic Gardening Class taught by Master Gardener Holly Wilson. Each session focuses on a new topic and offers practical, Central Texas friendly tips you can use right away. Registration is encouraged at KyleRec.RecDesk.com. This months class takes place Saturday, May 9 from 9 – 10 a.m. at the Kyle Community Garden, 193 Goddard.

World Bee Day — May 20

Celebrate World Bee Day and take home a native plant and support local conservation efforts in your own backyard on Wednesday, May 20 from 4 – 6 p.m. At this come-and-go handout event, staff and volunteers will be available to help you select the right plant for your space, based on your yard’s sun exposure, soil type, and moisture conditions. You’ll also receive simple, practical tips to help your plant get established and thrive.

Supplies are limited. One plant per household, available on a first-come, first-served basis while quantities last.

Master Naturalist Led Bird Walk — May 23

Join us for a peaceful morning Bird Walk at Lake Kyle on Saturday, May 23 at 8 a.m. This slow-paced walk is perfect for all experience levels, including seniors and those with limited mobility. Participants will learn how to properly use binoculars, identify local and migrating bird species (such as warblers, swallows, orioles, and kingfishers), and enjoy the beauty of nature at a relaxed pace.

Steeplechase Trail Clean-Up — May 28

Looking for a way to give back to nature? Join the Hays County Master Naturalists for our monthly trail clean-up at Steeplechase Park! We meet on the fourth Thursday of every month from 8 – 10 a.m. and work together to remove invasive, aggressive plants to help our native species thrive. 

Conservation Connections — May 28

Conservation Connections is a free, once-a-month community presentation focused on local ecology, practical ways to help protect our environment, and tips for becoming a better environmental steward in our city. Join us and discover hands-on actions you can take to support local conservation from 7 – 8 p.m. at 208 Republic Drive, Kyle, TX.
