The City of Kyle is celebrating a recognition for the person helping navigate the legal side of the City’s continued growth.
Aimee Alcorn-Reed, Kyle’s City Attorney, has been named one of the Top 10 City Attorneys in Texas for 2026 by Gov Business Review.
Alcorn-Reed joined the City of Kyle in 2024 and helped establish the City’s in-house legal office, transitioning Kyle from contract legal counsel to a dedicated City Attorney’s Office. For nearly two years, she served as the City’s sole in-house attorney, handling a wide range of legal matters while building the foundation for the City’s growing legal team, which added an Assistant City Attorney in October 2025.
Before joining Kyle, Alcorn-Reed spent more than a decade with the City of Corpus Christi, gaining experience in areas including prosecution, public information, purchasing, water, economic development and litigation. She is also a University of Texas School of Law graduate and has published and presented on municipal legal issues.
As City Attorney, Alcorn-Reed serves as Kyle’s chief legal officer and advises City Council, the City Manager, department heads and staff on legal issues. She also manages the municipal court prosecutor and outside litigation counsel, reviews City Council agendas and legal documents, and attends all City Council meetings to provide legal guidance as needed.
Her work comes at a time when Kyle is experiencing significant growth and facing increasingly complex issues involving areas such as economic development and water. Alcorn-Reed takes a practical approach to her role, first understanding what City leadership wants to accomplish and then finding a legal path to help achieve those goals while managing risk and protecting taxpayer dollars.
“My goal as a city attorney is to not be a roadblock, but to find a way to do it while limiting as many other risks as possible,” Alcorn-Reed said.
That approach extends beyond providing legal advice. Alcorn-Reed works closely with City staff and emphasizes being accessible and approachable so employees feel comfortable bringing legal questions forward. She also helps City leaders understand the laws, risks and potential consequences involved in their decisions while respecting the role of elected and appointed officials in setting policy.
Alcorn-Reed also keeps an eye on changes at the state level that could affect Kyle. Texas lawmakers meet for a regular legislative session every two years, and she monitors legislation and works with City departments to determine whether changes to local policies or ordinances are needed when new laws take effect.
Transparency is another part of the City Attorney’s Office’s work. Alcorn-Reed oversees staff involved with open records requests and works to make frequently requested information available to the public at no cost when possible. She also provides ethics training for City staff and City Council.
As Kyle continues to grow, Alcorn-Reed will continue working alongside City leadership and staff to navigate the legal challenges that come with that growth while helping protect public resources and provide clear legal guidance.
Her selection as one of the Top 10 City Attorneys in Texas for 2026 recognizes the role she continues to play in helping Kyle move forward.
