Kyle has spent the season tracking a familiar green figure who has been slipping through neighborhoods, rearranging decorations, and making off with the occasional porch package. Now the community is ready for the next chapter. For one evening, the Grinch will set aside his antics (we hope) and join families at La Verde Park for a night of holiday fun.
Families are invited to Grinch on the Green on Saturday, December 13 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at La Verde Park, 3901 Burnham. The free celebration includes sweet treats, live music, movies, children’s activities and vendors. The event blends the warmth of Kyle’s holiday traditions with the spirited charm of a classic story many families cherish.

The Grinch will be (reluctantly) available for photos with all visitors. We ask that you present him with a non-perishable food donation (a can of beans or bag of rice will suffice), to benefit the Hays County Food Bank. Parks and Recreation staff shared their support for this grinchy food drive, saying “It is a fun way for families to give back and show the Grinch that giving feels good.”
You can also look forward to face painting and a balloon artist, with food, drinks, and holiday shopping from craft and market vendors rounding out the festivities.
Event Schedule
| Time | Activity |

Families are encouraged to dress for the weather and arrive early since the park often fills quickly with visitors ready to enjoy the evening. Don’t forget something to sit on and a blanket or two to stay warm and settle in for the movies. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and strollers, carriers and other needed family items are allowed.
Parking is available at the Performing Arts Center and in the surrounding area. ADA parking will be available in the La Verde Park parking lot, with entry at the intersection of Doherty and Burnham. To help families navigate the event, Burnham will be closed to vehicle traffic and will serve as the main pedestrian walkway for the evening.

The movie screen will be positioned along this closed section of Burnham, with food vendors set up nearby. Craft and market vendors will line the path leading toward the central activity areas. The Trail of Grinch photo path will be located on the north side of the park, so grab a selfie making your best Grinch face. (Scroll down to see a detailed map)
Pets are welcome if kept on a leash. The city also reminds residents to keep holiday safety in mind. Kyle Police Department has posted seasonal safety tips at CityofKyle.gov/GrinchWatch.

Grinch on the Green has become a cherished tradition for many families in Kyle. The city looks forward to welcoming residents for an evening of glowing lights, cheerful music, and a festive pause in this year’s tale of holiday mischief.
