The City of Kyle proudly recognized the graduating class of the 2026 Team Kyle Academy during a special presentation at the June 2 City Council meeting.

Team Kyle Academy (TKA) is a seven-week civic education program that offers residents a behind-the-scenes look at how local government operates. Through hands-on sessions, direct interaction with City staff, and in-depth discussions, participants gain valuable insight into the services, departments, and decision-making processes that keep Kyle running.

“There’s a lot going on in every city and there’s so many departments and different moving pieces and watching them all coordinate together, piggy backing off of each,” said TKA Graduate Susan Segalo. “It’s awesome to see everybody come together and make things happen.”

During the ceremony, City staff introduced the graduating class as “a really fantastic group of citizen leaders” and highlighted the dedication shown by participants throughout the program.

Throughout the spring session, the 2026 cohort completed a comprehensive curriculum covering nearly every facet of municipal government. Topics included city organization, finance, utility billing, municipal court, capital improvement projects, public works and engineering, public safety, emergency management, beautification, parks and recreation, library services, and communications.

Participants attended weekly evening sessions at various City facilities, including City Hall, the Public Safety Center, and Transportation and Public Works locations. Along the way, they engaged directly with staff, asked thoughtful questions, and explored real-world challenges facing the growing community.

Applications for Team Kyle Academy typically open in the Spring. For more information, visit CityofKyle.gov/TKA and follow our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn) for more information on when positions open up for 2027.
