Beginning Monday, July 13, drivers in Kyle will see a change in traffic control on the southwest side of the City as the intersection at Roland Lane and South Main Street transition to all-way stop control.
The change follows the results of a recent traffic study that determined an all-way stop configuration to be the most effective solution to address safety concerns and overall traffic flow at the intersection.
As part of the transition, the current traffic setup, a low-level roundabout, will be removed. Work to dismantle the roundabout is scheduled to begin July 13.
During construction, both east and westbound traffic will be detoured to Opal Lane with local access only for Roland Lane. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, allow for extra travel time, and follow all posted detour signage. The detour and construction is expected to take 2 days depending on weather.
To increase safety and awareness, the stop signs installed at the intersections will feature LED borders. The illuminated STOP signs are designed to improve visibility and ensure drivers are aware of the upcoming stop and yield to drivers that may not be directly in their line of sight.
We want to remind people to remain vigilant, make sure to come to a full and complete stop and look both ways as everyone adjusts to the new traffic pattern.
