A familiar Central Texas favorite has found a new home in Kyle. A Little Shady officially opened its doors on Tuesday, Aug. 4, bringing the spirit of the iconic Shady Grove restaurant to the community while adding another locally owned business to Kyle’s growing dining scene.

Located at 5172 S. FM 1626, A Little Shady blends the nostalgic charm and signature dishes that made the original Austin restaurant a longtime destination with a new fast-casual concept designed for today’s diners. The opening represents another investment in Kyle’s expanding commercial corridor, offering residents more varied dining options close to home while contributing to the city’s continued economic growth.

“A Little Shady is the kind of business that just naturally fits in Kyle,” said Victoria Vargas, Director of Economic Development. “We are so excited to see this iconic Central Texas brand begin its next chapter in Kyle and provide another destination for everyone to enjoy.”

Inspired by the road-trip charm of the 1970s, the restaurant features nostalgic spaces that feel like your best friend’s basement or your mom’s retro kitchen, plus one of Kyle’s most inviting patios featuring the original 1954 Gulf Airstream trailer from Shady Grove.

“We’re excited to finally open the first A Little Shady in Kyle,” said Rusty Zagst, owner and operator. “Our team is passionate about great food, genuine hospitality and creating memorable experiences. We can’t wait to welcome longtime Shady Grove fans and introduce a new generation to what made it so special.”
