Kyle Begins Backup Power Installation at Water and Wastewater Facilities

The project is supported in part by an approximately $1.2 million FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant accepted by Kyle City Council in 2025.

Did you know your water supply depends on electricity?

In a prolonged power outage, water pumps and other utility equipment can be affected, which can make it hard to keep water moving and maintain pressure throughout the system.

The City of Kyle has started work on a project that will add backup power support at several critical utility facilities, helping strengthen the City’s water and wastewater systems during power outages, severe weather and other emergency conditions.

Ready Power, LLC has begun mobilizing the backup power improvement work.  Over the next few months, they will work on concrete pads for the generators and the associated electrical infrastructure needed to support them with installation scheduled for late 2026.

The project is supported in part by an approximately $1.2 million FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant accepted by Kyle City Council in 2025. The grant helps fund generator improvements at key utility sites across the city.

“This project is one of those behind-the-scenes improvements that makes a real difference during an emergency,” said Tim Samford, Assistant Director of Water Utilities. “By adding backup power at critical water and wastewater utility sites, we are helping strengthen the systems our community depends on every day.”

Planned construction locations include:

  • Lehman Booster Pump Station (150 Agate Lake Drive)
  • Yarrington Booster Pump Station (1193 Yarrington Drive)
  • Well 3 and Booster Pump Station (260 N. Old Stagecoach Road)
  • Wells 1 and 5 Booster Pump Station (225 Veterans Drive)
  • Masonwood Lift Station (642 Masonwood Drive)
  • Kensington Trails Lift Station (110 Anton Drive)
  • Well 2 and Pump Station (701 W. Moore Street)

Residents may see contractor activity at these utility sites as work moves forward. The City will continue to coordinate with  Ready Power, LLC and provide updates as the project progresses.
