Back-to-School Success Starts at the Library

The Kyle Public Library is a hub for students this school year, offering quiet study spaces and plenty of free resources to support learning and academic success. All available with the scan of a library card.

Back-to-school season can be a busy, stressful, and exciting time. One that often brings new routines and the need for fresh resources. Thankfully, the Kyle Public Library has a little bit of everything to help you ace the school year.

The Kyle Public Library is ready to help students, parents, and community members thrive this school year. Whether you need a quiet study spot, online learning tools, or guidance from knowledgeable staff, the library has everything you need to succeed.

Your library card gives you access to so much more than just books. Kyle Public Library card holders can access eBooks, DIY repair guides, test prep materials, genealogy resources, and more through the library’s extensive online offerings.

One useful tool for school is the TexShare Databases, which provides access to over 27,000 journals, 171,000 eBooks, and 15 million images, videos, and interactive resources. You’ll find materials for every grade level and subject, from elementary school reading to high school science projects, plus resources on business, technology, law, and health.

For extra academic support, the LearningExpress Library offers interactive tutorials, practice tests, flashcards, and eBooks to sharpen your skills in reading, writing, math, and science, and even prep you for big exams. Due to licensing, TexShare Databases and the LearningExpress Library are both only accessible through the computers at the library.

To see a full list of the library’s database offerings, visit the Kyle Public Library catalog and navigate to the “Electronic Resources” section on the main page.

Not sure where to start? We are here to help! The library offers a “Book-a-Librarian” service to meet one-on-one with a librarian for help navigating library and community resources.

  • We do help you find computer classes, computer learning resources, and teach you how to use eBooks, audiobooks, music & movies, and other library platforms. We don’t teach you how to use a computer.
  • We do help you find and print forms for livelihood (workforce, financial assistance, taxes). We don’t help you complete forms.
  • We do help you create an email or recover a password for you to use with your library account. We don’t help you troubleshoot other computer issues.
  • We do help you find resume help and job search help. We don’t review resumes, look for jobs, or fill out applications.

Patrons are limited to two 20-minute sessions per calendar month. Appointments will be scheduled during library hours.

Email libraryhelp@cityofkyle.com with your meeting preference (in-person, online, or over the phone), language preference (English or Spanish), and what you need help with, OR you may call the library at 512-268-7411 to set up an appointment.

Once you find the right database to help you succeed, you’ll need a cozy, quiet spot to study. The library offers plenty of options for both group and individual study, including a study room for up to four people, desk nooks, tables, and computer spaces to meet all your learning needs.

And of course, we can’t forget our book and movie collection. While studying is important, it’s also essential to make time for the things you enjoy. Our circulation assistants can help you find the perfect book to get lost in or an epic movie to relax and unwind after a long day.

This school year, let the Kyle Public Library be your go-to hub for learning, exploring, and achieving your goals, all for free with your library card.
