An initiative of the American Library Association, Library Card Sign-up Month has been held each September since 1987 to mark the beginning of the school year, promote literacy, and encourage communities everywhere to explore all the offerings that having a library card unlocks. Your Kyle Public Library card probably gets you more than you think.
At the Kyle Public Library, cardholders can explore over 100,000 eBooks and audiobooks through Libby and cloudLibrary, giving you access to so much more than what is within the library walls.
The Library of Things gives library customers the opportunity to try new hobbies, develop new skills and explore hands-on learning in new ways. With items like telescopes, GoPros, sewing machines, crochet kits and more, your library card can help you discover something new without having to buy everything yourself.
The collection also includes Children’s Activity Kits designed to make learning fun and engaging for young children. Kits include activities that help children practice their ABCs, learn how to tie their shoes, explore science with science viewers and more. All Library of Things items are free to check out with a library card.
The library is an information hub, providing free access to public computers and Wi-Fi to help everyone stay connected. Whether you need to get online, navigate a new technology or find a resource, library staff are available to provide assistance and help you make the most of the tools and services available.

If you’re looking to make the most of your time at the library, you can’t miss our programs. There is something for all ages, including a robust storytime (including bilingual) schedule for kids, teen events, book clubs, and more. Take a look at our calendar to see everything the library has planned this month and see how you can get involved.
This year’s theme, “A Library Card Hits All the Right Notes,” is a reminder that libraries offer something for everyone—no matter your age, background, or goals. Whether you’re checking out a classic story or trying something new, finding harmony at the library’s programs, getting into the grove in a study room or vibing out in a cozy nook, or composing your future with new skills, there’s a seat in the front row at the library for you, and your library card is the ticket.
Getting a library card is free, easy, and empowering. For students, it’s a key to academic success. For adults, it’s a gateway to lifelong learning. For everyone, it’s a smart way to stay connected to your community.
A Kyle Library Card is free for all Hays County residents and property owners. Get your card in-person at the library by completing a Library Card Application Form and presenting a valid photo ID with proof of current residence.
