Parks and Recreation Events
A Night for Sweethearts All Abilities Dance – Feb. 6
Show up in style for a night of dancing, music, and mouthwatering treats at the A Night for Sweethearts All Abilities Dance on Friday, Feb. 6 at Gemstone Palace from 5:30 – 8 p.m.

Grab your friends and a bottle of wine and join us Friday, February 6 from 7-9 p.m. at 208 Republic Drive, Suite A. to experience a social and fun atmosphere where our artist instructor will walk you step-by-step to complete a piece of artwork. All skill levels are welcome. Those under 21 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

February Social Squad – Feb. 10
Come check out the Social Squad, a social club for adults (15+) with disabilities. This month, we’re meeting up at the Krug Activity Center from 6 – 7:30 p.m. to celebrate Palentine’s Day with an evening of themed activities to designed to spark creativity, encourage social interaction, and strengthen community bonds.

February Movie in the Park – Feb. 13
The 2026 Movies in the Park lineup kicks off this month at La Verde Park with a showing of La La Land (PG-13) on Friday, February 13 at sundown, approximately 6 p.m.
Join us for an evening of romance, music, and movie magic outdoors and under the stars. Attendees are encouraged to bring something to sit on, blankets and chairs are allowed.
Mardi Gras at La Verde Park – Feb. 17
Laissez es bon temps rouler at our festive Mardi Gras celebration on Fat Tuesday from 6 – 8 p.m. at La Verde Park, 3901 Burnham.
Enjoy lively music from Big Wy’s Brass Band, colorful decorations, food and drink vendors, and family-friendly activities perfect for all ages. Whether you’re stopping by for the entertainment, the festive atmosphere, or simply to enjoy a night out in the park, this Mardi Gras celebration is sure to bring the spirit of the season to our community.

Join the Kyle Parks and Recreation Department for a special Family Night Out focused on CPR and First Aid on Friday, February 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at EVO Entertainment Kyle.
This fun and educational evening invites families to learn lifesaving skills together while enjoying a night out. The event will feature a CPR and First Aid demonstration led by the Kyle Fire Department, with a hands-on participation opportunity for ages 8 and up.
Following the demonstration, families can enjoy food and games at EVO Entertainment — all included with registration at KyleRec.RecDesk.com.

Library Events
Get excited for 2026 programs at the library! Stop in to see the newly updated library interior, check out new book releases, and attend exciting programs.
In addition to the events highlighted in this article, the library also offers many recurring favorites, including storytimes and other ongoing programs that take place throughout the year. Be sure to visit the library or check the City event calendar for a full list of everything happening.
Teen and Adult Tiny Art: Display your artistic talents in our 3rd Annual Tiny Art Show! This year, we’re excited to welcome adult artists, as well as teens, to participate alongside our community. Pick up a tiny artist kit from the library’s circulation desk between Feb. 2 and Feb. 28. Return your mini painting to the library by March 2 to be included in the Tiny Art Showcase on March 5.
Need a space to create your art? We will provide a space to create and offer a variety of painting supplies and other materials to choose from.

Chess and Games – Every Monday: Families are invited to unwind with a mix of chess, board, and card games suitable for all ages. Players can learn the basics or enjoy friendly matches together. All ages and experience levels are welcome in this relaxed, drop-in program, happening at 3:30 p.m. every Monday.
Textile Wall Hanging Craft Workshop – Feb. 7: Spark your creativity and connect with others as you craft beautiful wall hangings from yarn, beads, and bells. This workshop, presented by Aging is Cool, offers a fun and supportive environment for all adults, including those who may need a little extra assistance. This ticketed event starts at 10 a.m. Tickets will be available to pick up at the library 30 minutes before the event begins.
Master Gardeners: Growing Spring Vegetables – Feb. 7: Spring is almost here! At 11 a.m., learn about planting and caring for spring vegetables in this program organized by the Hays County Master Gardeners and presented by Emily Statts from the Comal County Master Gardeners.
Anti Valentine’s Day Party – Feb. 10: Get ready for an epic Anti-Valentine’s Day Party where friendship, fun, and pure chaos rule! Skip the romance and unleash your inner mad scientist by creating a bizarre, one-of-a-kind Franken Toy. Dig into “stinky snacks,” play lively games, and embrace the weird. Whether you come with friends or fly solo, this night is all about having a blast your way.
Coffee and Conversation – Feb. 13: Meet new friends and reconnect with old ones from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. We will offer coffee, tea, light snacks, and a variety of puzzles to work on together while you chat. If you enjoy crocheting, feel free to bring your supplies and enjoy the company of others while you create.
Sweethearts Celebration – Feb. 14: Looking for something to do with the kids before date night? Celebrate Valentine’s Day at the library! We’ll start with a fun storytime, then dive into crafty Valentine creations. Make a card, design a sweetheart craft, or create a thoughtful gift to share with someone you love. Come spread kindness, creativity, and lots of heart!
Storytelling Night – Feb. 19: Share your story and discover your voice at our monthly writing gathering, held every third Thursday of the month at 6:30 pm. Whether you craft something original or reimagine a familiar tale, this is your space to play, experiment, and connect with fellow writers.
Each month features a guiding theme to spark creativity. The February theme is winter and companionship, inviting writers to explore connection, solitude, friendship, or warmth found during the coldest season. You are welcome to write to the theme or choose a topic that inspires you. We’ll create the atmosphere. Your imagination does the rest.
Speed Friending – Feb. 21: Making friends as an adult is challenging, but you’re not alone! Join us from 1 – 3 p.m. for this fun, relaxed, and stress-free event that’s designed to foster genuine connections. You’ll engage in a series of quick, friendly chats. Start your own conversation or use the provided thought-provoking conversation starters. Afterward, enjoy light refreshments or get creative, making a custom keychain for a new acquaintance or yourself!
Page Turners Book Club – Feb. 26: The Page Turners Book Club invites readers to connect over a shared love of books. Every 4th Thursday of the month at 6:45 p.m., members explore a new title and come together for lively discussions and community connection in a welcoming environment.
The February book is The One-in-a-Million Boy by Monica Wood, which follows an unlikely friendship between a curious 11-year-old boy and a 104-year-old woman, exploring themes of grief, connection, and forgiveness.
Library Time – Feb. 27: Join us at 10 a.m. for a modified storytime for teens and adults with intellectual disabilities and their caregivers. Participants will listen to a higher-level picture book, sing and move to music, and enjoy a hands-on activity.
Conservation Division Events
The Kyle Parks and Recreation Department’s Conservation Division is staying busy this month. Catch up with them at one of their many February events.
Trail Steward Leadership Training – Feb. 7: Be a part of Kyle’s Trail Stewardship Program! Join us for this city-sponsored volunteer program focused on restoring and maintaining Kyle’s trail systems, led by trained community leaders like you. This month, participants will remove invasive plants at Lake Kyle from 8 – 11 a.m.
Organic Gardening Class – Vermicomposting/Composting – Feb. 21: Ready to turn trash into treasure? Did you know that you can create your own compost without spending any money?
This seminar, on Saturday, February 21 from 10 – 11 a.m., provides a concise introduction to composting and vermicomposting. Learn practical steps to start your own composting system and create thriving soil for your garden.
Steeplechase Trail Cleanup – Feb. 26: Looking for a way to give back to nature? Join the Hays County Master Naturalists for our monthly trail clean-up at Steeplechase Park! We meet on the fourth Thursday of every month from 8 – 10 a.m. and work together to remove invasive, aggressive plants to help our native species thrive.
Conservation Connections – Plight of the Pollinators – Feb. 26: Conservation Connections is a free, once-a-month community presentation focused on local ecology, practical ways to help protect our environment, and tips for becoming a better environmental steward in the City of Kyle. This month, Conservation Division Manager John Davis will discuss the current state of pollinators in our environment and what we can do to help them from 7 – 8 p.m. at 208 Republic Drive, Kyle, TX.

Master Naturalist Led Bird Walk – Feb. 28: Join us for a peaceful morning Bird Walk along Cool Springs Trail. This slow-paced walk is perfect for all experience levels, including seniors and those with limited mobility. Participants will learn how to properly use binoculars, identify local and migrating bird species (such as wrens, titmice, chickadees, early phoebes, and bluebirds), and enjoy the beauty of nature at a relaxed pace.
